Music education was once an integral part of the standardized school curriculum. People knew and believed in the discipline it could instill and the cognitive training it could offer the growing mind. Music strengthens memory, reinforces language skills, builds and improves reading ability, and helps lower delinquency rates in schools. It improves emotional health, physical dexterity, and promotes positive social interaction among students. Children learn better when music is part of their lives!

 

Yet each year, schools have to make the difficult decision to cancel music programs due to a decrease in federal funding and lack of support. This makes it difficult for districts to keep and acquire proper equipment, while hiring qualified professionals. Proper music education is on a steady decline...but we can all help change this!    ​

Join Kids' Community Strings in enriching our students' lives through the joy of music making. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, KCS' goal is to provide cost effective lessons, instruments, and performance opportunities to children in Hunt County, Texas and the surrounding areas.
