Ramos Violin Method

celebrating Mexican music and culture

The Ramos Violin Method teaches violin skills to children beginning ages four to five. Students develop technique through Mexican music styles such as the bolero, huapango, cumbia, jarabe, chotis, polka, vals, and joropo.

Volume I contains seventeen songs that are carefully paced to build new violin skills while reinforcing old ones.

The Ramos Method Story

Created by Dr. Elizabeth Torres in fulfillment of her doctoral treatise, the Ramos Violin Method was inspired by Dr. Torres' experiences as both a Suzuki violin teacher and mariachi violinist. The Ramos Method is modeled after the Suzuki Method in terms of skill-based content. Violin skills are taught using Mexican folk songs, and are sung in Spanish as well as played.

Ramos Method students develop the skills and technical ability to play violin at an advanced level, while simultaneously celebrating Mexican music and culture.
